Fallon (bentonite)

Nevada, United States

Otherbentonite

Type
Bentonite (Na)

Smectite bentonite deposit. Mainly terrestrial deposition: saline-alkaline playa, probably distal setting, parent material rhyolitic to dacitic volcanics; hydrothermal, brine or lake water, possibly 20 to 80 °C alteration; Miocene to Pleistocene. Köster et al. (2019): δ11B of purified smectites and fluid δ11B calculated for trigonal or tetrahedral boron at 25 and 90 °C.
