Dahongshan

Southwest China, southern Kangdian metallogenic belt (western Yangtze Block), China

IOCGFe-Cu (Au)

Type
Iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG)

The largest IOCG deposit of the Kangdian province, in volcano-sedimentary rocks of the Palaeoproterozoic Dahongshan Group; orebodies controlled by lithological contacts and faults, associated with subvolcanic intrusions. Mineralisation bracketed by zircons at 1681 ± 13 and 1659 ± 16 Ma, Neoproterozoic metamorphic overprint (biotite K-Ar and Ar-Ar 820 to 740 Ma). Four stages: albitisation (I, about 550 C), iron oxides (II, 450 C), copper sulphides (III, 350 C), quartz-calcite veins (IV, 250 C). Su et al. (2016): tourmaline delta11B from -14.7 to +5.9 ‰, magmatic fluids in stages I and II then mixing with basinal brines of marine origin.
