Changkeng
Guangdong, south-western rim of the Shanshui Basin (South China Fold Belt), China
Other hydrothermalAu
- Type
- Disseminated gold in brecciated cherts and jasperoidal quartz (Carlin-like or unconformity-related)
Adjacent but separate deposits on the south-western rim of the Shanshui Basin, about 75 km south-west of Guangzhou (112°48′01″ to 112°50′13″ E, 23°00′00″ to 23°00′02″ N). Largest gold deposit hosted in brecciated siliceous rocks in China (about 32 t Au at 6-8 g/t), in the upper part of the sequence and south of the ore field, poor in Ag (below 11 ppm). Fluid inclusions at 210 ± 80 °C and 1.6 to 7.3 wt% NaCl equiv.; meteoric fluid (δD from -80 to -30 ‰, water δ18O from -7.8 to -3.0 ‰, CO2 δ13C from -17.0 to -16.6 ‰ and 3He/4He from 0.0054 to 0.0100 Ra, after Guo and Du, 1996, and Sun et al., 1999). Sulfide lead close to that of the host rocks (Liang et al., 2007); gold earlier than the Fuwang silver.
