Orogenic goldAu

Type
Orogenic gold in quartz-tourmaline veins at the margin of the Bourlamaque pluton

Mine of the Val-d'Or vein field: quartz-tourmaline-carbonate (QTC) veins in shear zones. Daver et al. (2020): three-phase paragenesis, early gold and pyrite under reducing conditions, tourmaline and barite under an oxidizing fluid, then barren As-Co-Ni cubic pyrite; district tourmaline δ11B from -15.6 to -7.7 ‰, lighter to the west, mixing of a deep metamorphic fluid and a supracrustal fluid. Mine closed in 2019 east of the Bourlamaque pluton, at the contact with mafic rocks of the Dubuisson Formation; decimetre- to metre-scale lenses in subhorizontal extensional shears.
