SEDEXV

Type
Vanadium-bearing black shale (lower Cambrian)

Vanadium layer 2 to 3 m thick at the top of the Liuchapo Formation, 2 km west of Sansui town: carbonaceous shales (ore) interbedded with siliceous rocks, phosphate nodules at the roof. Wu et al. (2021): tuff in the middle of the layer dated at 520.9 ± 1.0 Ma (zircon U-Pb, LA-ICP-MS, 26 spots), close to the Terreneuvian-Series 2 boundary, comparable to the Mo-Ni-PGE horizons of South China.

Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 16 analyses, -33.86 to -30.04 (SH-1 -31.20; SH-2 -31.01; SH-3 -30.86; SH-4 -30.04; SH-5 -30.97; SH-6 -30.63; SH-7 -31.79; SH-8 -31.58; SH-9 -33.49; SH-10 -33.08; SH-11 -33.41; SH-12 -33.86; SH-13 -33.83; SH-14 -33.77; SH-15 -33.81; SH-16 -33.62). Samples SH-1 to SH-16 of the section; the text describes a decrease from base to top (maximum difference 3.82 ‰), with a positive excursion in the footwall (ZHUCE) and a negative one in the vanadium layer (SHICE). TOC 1.02 to 20.16 % (the text gives 1.06 % for the minimum); the Table 2 title also mentions oxygen, missing from the columns.
