- Type
- Active thermal-spring ulexite
Quaternary borate tied to a geyser or hot spring of the eastern Puna: ulexite interbedded with travertine, as a cone or platform around the vent, with tincalconite, pinnoite, inderite, halite and gypsum. Only spring still active, where ulexite precipitates today (fluid at -12.5 ‰, 570 mg/L B, pH 7.9, about 10 °C): basis of the empirical solution/ulexite factor of 1.0096 of Kasemann et al. (2004). Coordinates not published (map only).
