Mine tailings and waste rock

Type
Mine tailings and waste rock

Niujiaotang zinc mine, mined on a large scale, in carbonate karst terrain. Waters stay alkaline (pH 8.6 to 9.0): mine drainage matters little, anthropogenic zinc mainly travelling with fine tailings dust dispersed by wind (19.5 % on average). Very zinc-rich tailings, sampled at the mine site. Indicative coordinates.
