Spiekeroog Island (East Frisian Islands, North Sea). 350 m transect on the north-west beach, from the dune (station 0) to the intertidal zone (station 5); coordinates of station 0. Mixing of lens freshwater and recirculated seawater; silicon flux to the sea estimated at 210 mol/yr per metre of coastline.

Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 19 samples. Stations 0 (4), 1 (4), 2 (2), 3 (4), 4 (4) and 5 (1), 50 to 520 cm below the surface; dissolved silicon 40 to 192 µM. δ30Si decreases with depth at each station: dissolution of light lithogenic silica, very little authigenic silica formation.
