Sediments from the 1988 R/V Knorr cruise; depositional setting defined by iron speciation (Lyons and Severmann, 2006). Chen et al. (2022) find no Fe-Mn shuttle effect: authigenic ε205Tl does not vary with setting and stays close to Black Sea surface water (-2.2), authigenic δ51V is heavier under euxinic waters (-0.57 ‰) than under oxic or suboxic waters (-1.06 and -1.04 ‰). Shelf under oxygenated waters, 1.2 % organic carbon and 20 % carbonate on average.
