Groundwater of the Shihongtan uranium deposit (boreholes)
Xinjiang, southwestern margin of the Tuha (Turpan-Hami) basin, China
Groundwater
- Type
- Groundwater
Interlayer oxidation-zone sandstone uranium deposit, in sandstones of the Lower to Middle Jurassic Shuixigou Group; arid climate (17 mm rain per year, over 3000 mm evaporation). Groundwater flows from the southwest toward Aiting Lake. Min et al. (2007): meteoric waters, enriched along the flow path by water-rock interaction, evaporation and mixing with connate waters. Brackish Na-Ca-Mg-Cl-SO4 waters (facies 2) from 16 boreholes intersecting the uranium orebody, from 2 to 345 m. Without published coordinates.

The text gives +11.5 to +39.1 ‰ for facies 2, whereas the table goes down to +10.7 ‰ (Zk5w5g); the abstract, which includes spring 2, gives +9.5 to +39.1 ‰ (mean +17.1 ‰). | Min et al.
