- Groundwater
Xikuangshan antimony mine: 60 waters sampled from October to December 2016 (Wen et al., 2023, Environmental Pollution), near-neutral to alkaline, rich in sulfate and Sb(OH)6-; chemistry controlled by carbonate dissolution and silicate weathering. Sulfate and Sb come mainly from stibnite oxidation, without notable bacterial reduction; Sr points to leaching of mine wastes and smelting waters as the major source of groundwater Sb. Coordinates not published (map only). Sixteen springs and ten wells of karst aquifers A and B and other formations, Sb from 0.015 to 47.40 mg/L (4.56 on average); very high Sb where mine waters and waste leachates infiltrate.
