Mud volcanoes of the Kerch Peninsula (Caucasus collision zone, northern margin of the orogenic prism), draining waters generated at 1 to 3.5 km in the Maykop clays (Oligocene-Miocene); sampled in 2017 (Lin et al., 2026, data of Sokol et al., 2019 and Lavrushin et al., 2025). Large deep-rooted volcanoes: waters freshened by dehydration water from the smectite-illite transition (52 to 74 %), B-rich, low δ11B; small shallow-rooted volcanoes: mixing with seawater-like pore water and strong surface overprinting. Coordinates not published (map only). Waters concentrated by surface evaporation (907 and 1105 mg/L B, 42.6 and 69.1 g/L salts), excluded from the regressions by the authors; local deposits of hydrous Ca-Na borates.
