Acid mine drainage
- Type
- Acid mine drainage
Xikuangshan antimony mine: 60 waters sampled from October to December 2016 (Wen et al., 2023, Environmental Pollution), near-neutral to alkaline, rich in sulfate and Sb(OH)6-; chemistry controlled by carbonate dissolution and silicate weathering. Sulfate and Sb come mainly from stibnite oxidation, without notable bacterial reduction; Sr points to leaching of mine wastes and smelting waters as the major source of groundwater Sb. Coordinates not published (map only). Sixteen adit waters, two leachates, one smelting water and one tailings water, Sb from 0.08 to 29.80 mg/L (7.01 on average), sulfate 596 mg/L on average.
