Hydrothermal manganese deposit of Rehkämper et al. (2002), Tonga Ridge, 1710-1200 m water depth; 3.45 ppm Tl, 40.7 % Mn and 2.51 % Fe. Hydrothermal Mn deposits, precipitated below the sediment-water interface from diffuse fluids, range from -5.9 to +7.0 and their ε205Tl increases with Mn/Fe (r = 0.91) and 1/Tl: Tl taken from proximal, hot fluids with little fractionation (Tl-rich, light end-member), or from distal, cold fluids with stronger fractionation (Tl-poor, heavy end-member).
