Geothermal waters of the Tibetan Plateau sampled by Zhang et al. (2015): high-B waters (36.8 to 171.9 mg/L, Na-Cl, mostly 85-87 °C) along the Indus-Yarlung Zangbo suture and the N-S rifts, magmatic boron supplied by degassing of a cooling magma; low-B waters (0.4 to 34.6 mg/L, Na-Ca-HCO3-SO4) of the Lhasa block, boron leached from host rocks by water-rock interaction. Coordinates not published (map only). Waters at 87 °C; YBJ-02 comes from an abandoned borehole (10.2 mg/L B, leaching of the host granite); reservoir up to 329 °C at 1850 m. δ11B of about -12.5 ‰ expected after phase separation of a magmatic fluid.
