Geothermal field below a poorly permeable Cretaceous-Tertiary cap about 560 m thick, reservoir in fractured Mesozoic greywacke-argillite basement; very boron-rich fluids (up to about 100 mmol/kg) with Cl/B about 0.41; former Ngawha lake bed with mercury ore in its upper two to three metres. Jubilee (48 °C, pH 6.8, 81 mmol/kg B) fed mostly by deep fluid; Jupiter (38 °C, pH 8.1, 24 mmol/kg) diluted by groundwater at the same Cl/B.
