Type
Groundwater

Geothermal field below a poorly permeable Cretaceous-Tertiary cap about 560 m thick, reservoir in fractured Mesozoic greywacke-argillite basement; very boron-rich fluids (up to about 100 mmol/kg) with Cl/B about 0.41; former Ngawha lake bed with mercury ore in its upper two to three metres. Wells 2, 9, 12, 13 and 18 (97 to 180 °C, pH 7.6 to 7.7, 86 to 102 mmol/kg B).
