Double spike

A measurement method that adds a calibrated mixture of two enriched isotopes to the sample. It corrects both instrumental bias and the fractionation incurred during chemical separation, resolving differences of a few hundredths of a per mil, for example for tungsten, molybdenum or cadmium.

Composition

Example: 180W-183W or 183W-186W spike, results reported to NIST SRM 3163.
