IOCGFe (V, P)
- Type
- Iron oxide-apatite (Kiruna type) at the top of a diorite intrusion
One of over twenty IOA deposits of the Cretaceous Ningwu volcanic field: reserve of 360 Mt at 20-26 % Fe, 0.06-0.17 % V and 0.01-3.08 % P, twelve orebodies in altered diorite porphyry and at its contact with Dawangshan Formation andesites. Host diorite dated at 130.7 ± 1.8 Ma (zircon), ore at 131.1 ± 1.9 Ma (apatite). Three tourmaline-bearing stages: sodic alteration, Ca-Fe alteration with magnetite, Ca-Mg veins with sulphides. Su et al. (2019): δ11B from -8.5 to +5.4 ‰ and 87Sr/86Sr from 0.7065 to 0.7087, two magmatic fluid pulses followed by influx of external groundwater.
