Volcanogenic massive sulfidesCu-Zn-Pb (pyrite)
- Type
- Volcanogenic massive sulphide
Volcanogenic massive sulphide body of the northern Iberian Pyrite Belt, hosted by felsic volcanic rocks of the volcano-sedimentary complex (early Tournaisian to middle Visean), metamorphosed at sub-greenschist facies (about 350 °C). Mine no longer in production. Quartz-pyrite-chlorite stockwork, chloritised footwall rhyolites. Stockwork fluid inclusions (sample SM-7): Th 160 to 240 °C (median 188 °C), 5.2 to 9.7 wt% NaCl eq. Nearby post-Hercynian quartz veins: Th 119 to 270 °C, 1.7 to 6.7 wt% NaCl eq., meteoric fluid (δ18O -2.3 ‰, δD -10 ‰ measured by decrepitation). Coordinates not given.

| 11.2 ‰ | 1 | post-Hercynian vein quartz (sample SM.PROC) Single analysis, late barren vein rather than ore; fluid calculated at 173 °C: -2.3 ‰, on the meteoric water line with the measured δD. | Sánchez-España et al. (2003), Source and evolution of ore-forming hydrothermal fluids in … |
