Shimen phosphate

Hunan, Shimen, China

Magmatic (Ni-Cu-PGE, carbonatites)P

Type
Magmatic phosphate (apatite of an alkaline or carbonatite complex)

Phosphate rocks studied by Hill et al. (2024) to reconstruct redox conditions and diagenesis: U, Sr and rare earths carried by carbonate fluorapatite; samples taken at mines or from the Julius Kühn Institute archives. Classed among the magmatic phosphates, but with 87Sr/86Sr (0.708606) and δ18O (14.45 ‰) close to sedimentary phosphorites. Coordinates not given.
