Nanhua (arsenic-thallium mine)
Eastern Yunnan, near the Malong River fold belt, China
Other hydrothermalAs (Tl)
- Type
- Low-temperature hydrothermal As-Tl deposit (realgar, lorandite)
Tl-rich arsenic deposit of the South China platform (Yangtze Block), first mined for realgar; reserves of about 1.66 Mt arsenic; production of 1000 t/yr As2O3 for over 40 years until closure in 2000. Lorandite (TlAsS2) ore according to TEM, ε205Tl of -0.10; roasting tailings are much heavier (+3.38 to +5.35) and supply on average 78 % of Tl in nearby soils (three end-member model, Wei et al., 2026). Coordinates not published.
