Shikoku, Sanbagawa belt, Japan

Volcanogenic massive sulfidesCu

Type
Besshi-type massive sulfides (Cu-Zn) in metasediments

Cu deposit of Permian (?) age in a dominantly clastic metasedimentary terrane, metamorphosed to greenschist facies. Palmer and Slack (1989, Table 1): tourmaline at -2.78 ‰. Tourmalines of this kind of terrane range from -15.37 to -2.19 ‰ in the article; according to the authors, the boron source (continental crust, entrained seawater, evaporites) matters more than the formation temperature.
