Guern Halfaya (Oum Edeboua mine)
Northern Tunisia, Domes zone, Tunisie
Mississippi Valley TypePb-Zn (Ba, Sr)
- Type
- Pb-Zn (Fe-Ba-Sr) at the contact of a Triassic evaporite diapir and Cretaceous limestones
Stockwork and veins in limestones at the Triassic-Upper Cretaceous contact and in Cenomanian to Turonian limestones (Bahloul Formation), near the Guern Halfaya diapir; galena, sphalerite, framboidal pyrite, chalcopyrite, grey copper and arsenopyrite, with barite, celestite, gypsum and nacrite; fluid inclusions at 95 to 130 °C and 10 to 25 wt% NaCl eq. (Kassaa, 1998). Triassic sulphates (+12.7 to +15.0 ‰) from the evaporites, sulphides (+3.3 to +9.5 ‰) from their bacterial reduction; homogeneous crustal lead and Upper Cretaceous model age (Jemmali et al., 2013). Coordinates not given.
