Golden Dyke dome (Northern Territory)

Northern Territory, Pine Creek, Australia

Orogenic goldAu

Type
Metasediment-hosted gold

Au deposit of Middle Proterozoic age in a dominantly clastic metasedimentary terrane, metamorphosed to greenschist facies. Palmer and Slack (1989, Table 1): tourmaline at -13.78 ‰. Tourmalines of this kind of terrane range from -15.37 to -2.19 ‰ in the article; according to the authors, the boron source (continental crust, entrained seawater, evaporites) matters more than the formation temperature.
