PorphyriesAu-Cu

Type
Eocene Au (Cu) porphyries

Eocene (42 to 39 Ma) granodiorite porphyry intrusions of Elder Creek, Long Peak, Copper Basin (Snow Gulch, Paiute Canyon, Poorman's Gulch, North Stock, Bailey Day, Vail Canyon stocks) and late dykes, as shallow cupolas of a common chamber. Magmatic-hydrothermal potassic alteration followed by sodic-calcic alteration by an external saline fluid. Tl follows potassium: K alteration adds and lightens it (mean ε205Tl from -3.2 to -3.7), Na-Ca alteration removes it and leaves heavier Tl (-2.1), 203Tl being more mobile; micas are always lighter than the associated K-feldspar (Rader et al., 2023). Indicative coordinates (Battle Mountain).
