Baotan (tin)
Northern Guangxi, Jiuwandashan-Yuanbaoshan region, China
Other hydrothermalSn (Cu)
- Type
- Tourmaline-type tin veins related to a Neoproterozoic granite
Tin deposit of the oldest tin-polymetallic region of South China, in the western Jiangnan orogenic belt; NE-trending veins on the SE margin of the Pingying granite pluton (about 15 km² exposed), mostly in mafic rocks of the Sibao Group; cassiterite and chalcopyrite, greisen, tourmaline, quartz-cassiterite then cassiterite-sulphide stages. Zhang et al. (2014): 182 analyses from -15 to -9 ‰, mostly -14.5 to -11.4 ‰, continental crust boron.

Standard : NIST SRM 951
| Value | Range | n | Mineral or matrix | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| −13.9 / −12 ‰ | tourmaline of nodules in the Pingying granite (NT type) Range only. | Zhang et al. (2014), Chemical and Boron Isotopic Composition of Tourmaline in Baotan Tin … | ||
| −15 / −9 ‰ | tourmaline of pre-ore and cassiterite veins (PT and CT types) Range only. Bimodal distribution with peaks near -13 and -9.5 ‰; range of the whole study, that of these two types not being published. Some vein grains reach -8.44 to -10.8 ‰ (first value printed without sign), shift ascribed to Rayleigh fractionation. | Zhang et al. (2014), Chemical and Boron Isotopic Composition of Tourmaline in Baotan Tin … | ||
| −13.2 / −11.4 ‰ | lamellar tourmaline of the Sibao Group (LT type) Range only. Interpreted as syngenetic submarine exhalative (Mao, 1995). | Zhang et al. (2014), Chemical and Boron Isotopic Composition of Tourmaline in Baotan Tin … |
