Banian (Dushan antimony district)

Guizhou, south-eastern Dushan County, Dushan antimony district, China

Other hydrothermalSb

Type
Stratabound and breccia-hosted stibnite with calcite gangue in Devonian carbonates and clastics

Medium-sized antimony deposit of the Dushan district (South China antimony belt), controlled by the Banba fault and the secondary Dayuhe fault near the southern axis of the Dushan box anticline; stratabound or lenticular bodies at carbonate-clastic contacts or in breccias, in the upper Songjiaqiao sub-member of the Dushan Formation (Middle Devonian). Early white calcite, pink calcite closely tied to stibnite; calcite, silica and sulfide alteration, abundant vugs in the host rocks. Meteoric fluids at 145 °C on average and 5.7-8.7 wt% NaCl equiv. (Cui et al., 1993; Wang and Jin, 2010). Wang et al. (2012): Sm-Nd isochrons of 128.2 ± 3.2 Ma (white calcite, initial εNd -4.3) and 126.4 ± 2.7 Ma (pink calcite, -6.0), late Yanshanian; δ13C from -1.8 to -0.5 ‰ and δ18O from +12.5 to +14.6 ‰: strong fluid-wall rock interaction. Coordinates not published.
