Kola apatite
Kola Peninsula, Russia
Magmatic (Ni-Cu-PGE, carbonatites)P
- Type
- Magmatic phosphate (apatite of an alkaline or carbonatite complex)
Phosphate rocks studied by Hill et al. (2024) to reconstruct redox conditions and diagenesis: U, Sr and rare earths carried by carbonate fluorapatite; samples taken at mines or from the Julius Kühn Institute archives. Magmatic phosphate very rich in Sr (18,000 to 21,000 mg/kg) and poor in U, with poorly radiogenic Sr and mantle oxygen; RU-A carries in Table S2 the δ238U and δ234U of IL-1 to the last digit, values discarded as a probable copying error. Coordinates not given.
