Eight families, from regulated to emerging contaminants

Every molecule in the catalogue carries its regulatory thresholds, physico-chemical properties (Kow, solubility, half-life), degradation pathways and the known isotopic signatures associated with its main industrial sources.

PF

PFAS

Free edition

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Forever chemicals at the heart of European regulations since 2023. The catalogue covers historical PFAS as well as those listed in the 2020 drinking water directive.

Examples and WFD threshold (water)
PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid) 0.00065 µg/L
PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) 0.1 µg/L
Sum of 20 PFAS (Directive 2020/2184) 0.1 µg/L
PE

Pesticides

Free edition

Herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and their metabolites. Native distinction between active substances, stable degradation products and markers of diffuse or point-source agricultural pollution.

Examples and WFD threshold (water)
Glyphosate 0.1 µg/L
AMPA (glyphosate metabolite) 0.1 µg/L
Atrazine (banned 2003) 0.1 µg/L
PA

PAHs

Pro edition

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Tracers of combustion, oil leaks, road tarring. Ratios between PAHs (fluoranthene/pyrene, phenanthrene/anthracene) help distinguish pyrolytic from petrogenic origins.

Examples and WFD threshold (water)
Benzo[a]pyrene 0.00017 µg/L
Naphthalene 2 µg/L
Fluoranthene 0.0063 µg/L
PC

PCBs

Pro edition

Polychlorinated biphenyls. Persistent and bioaccumulative. The catalogue includes the 7 indicator NDL (non dioxin-like) congeners and the 12 DL-PCBs with their TEF factors, for sediment and soil assessment.

Examples and thresholds (soil/sediment)
PCB 153 (NDL indicator) 20 µg/kg DW
PCB 126 (DL, TEF = 0.1) trace
Sum of 7 indicator PCBs FR threshold: 0.05 µg/L water
CS

Chlorinated solvents

Pro edition

Trichloroethylene (TCE), tetrachloroethylene (PCE), DCE, VC and their dechlorination pathways. Tracers of legacy industrial sites. CSIA on carbon or chlorine enables diagnosis of natural attenuation in groundwater.

Examples and drinking water threshold
Trichloroethylene (TCE) 10 µg/L (TCE+PCE sum)
Tetrachloroethylene (PCE) 10 µg/L (TCE+PCE sum)
Vinyl chloride (VC) 0.5 µg/L
PH

Pharmaceuticals & personal care

Pro edition

Pharmaceutical residues and personal care products in urban and rural waters. Antibiotics, antidepressants, analgesics, hormones. Strengthened Watch List in the 2024 update.

Examples and WHO or Watch List guideline values
Carbamazepine (anthropic marker) indicator > 10 ng/L
Diclofenac EU EQS: 0.1 µg/L
17-β-estradiol EU EQS: 0.4 ng/L
DI

Dioxins & furans

Pro edition

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF). Ultra-trace compounds from combustion and industrial processes. Assessment via toxic equivalents (WHO-TEQ).

Examples and WHO-TEF 2005 reference
2,3,7,8-TCDD (reference, TEF = 1) most toxic congener
1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDD (TEF = 0.01) common in combustion
Sum PCDD/F (EU food) thresholds in pg TEQ/g fat
FO

Forensic compounds

Pro edition

Specific isomers and markers for source attribution in environmental litigation: fuel additives (MTBE, ETBE, BTEX), explosives (TNT, RDX), chemical warfare agents and their degradation products.

Examples and use contexts
MTBE, ETBE (gasoline additives) service station sites
BTEX (benzene, toluene...) benzene threshold: 1 µg/L
TNT and nitroaromatic derivatives defence sites, pyrotechnics

Thresholds kept up to date, ready to use

Each molecule in the catalogue carries its threshold values according to the applicable frameworks: Water Framework Directive (WFD), Drinking Water Directive (2020/2184), Environmental Quality Standards (EQS), Watch Lists, and sediment-soil reference values.

IsoFind automatically computes compliance at every analytical data import, flags exceedances by family and by sample, and generates the matching report blocks for regulatory deliverable production.

European and French frameworks WFD, EQS, Drinking Water Directive, Watch List, sediment and soil thresholds
Automatic compliance computation Instant assessment per sample and per family at the moment of import
Dedicated report block The Regulatory compliance block auto-fills with exceedances, contexts, threshold values
Example: PFAS compliance on a sample WFD 2020
Molecule Measurement Threshold Status
PFOS 0.00042 µg/L 0.00065 µg/L OK
PFOA 0.087 µg/L 0.1 µg/L Margin
PFHxS 0.031 µg/L 0.1 µg/L (sum 20) OK
PFHpA 0.012 µg/L 0.1 µg/L (sum 20) OK
Sum of 20 PFAS 0.138 µg/L 0.1 µg/L Exceeded
TFA 2.4 µg/L monitoring Watch

From import CSV to signed report

The molecular catalogue feeds the entire IsoFind chain: automatic column detection at import, regulatory assessment, coupling to isotopic signatures, CSIA simulation and report block generation.

1

Import and recognition

CSV or Excel import. The semantic resolver automatically recognises the standard columns of each family, handles synonyms (PFOS = perfluorooctane sulfonate, etc.) and normalises units.

2

Compliance assessment

Each measurement is checked against the applicable framework. Exceedances computed per molecule, per family sum and per sample. Multi-family fingerprint visualisation for rapid diagnosis.

3

Isotopic coupling

Targeted molecules are cross-referenced with available isotopic signatures (δ13C, δ37Cl, δ15N...). Suggestions for complementary CSIA analyses are generated with their scientific rationale.

4

CSIA simulation

For degradable families (chlorinated solvents, pesticides, BTEX), the 3D simulation engine propagates the pollutant with its degradation pathway, the metabolite cascade and the Rayleigh isotopic evolution.

5

Report blocks

Four dedicated blocks: pollutant inventory, regulatory compliance, isotope-molecule links, molecular fingerprint. Auto-fed by project data, exportable to PDF and ISOF.

6

Defensible deliverable

Final report sealed with SHA-256, complete audit trail, source file hashes. The reader can trace every exceedance back to the original measurement and its analytical method.
