Type
Intermediate-sulfidation Ag-Au epithermal (Mexican Silver Belt)

A historic silver district of colonial Mexico, worked since 1546. Its polymetallic veins cut Lower Cenozoic andesites and rhyolites. Its very large production fed world monetary circulation from the 16th to the 18th century. Mineralisation is about 50 to 30 Ma old; it was re-evaluated by Zamora-Vega et al. (2018).
