Unconformity-related uranium
A uranium deposit at the erosion surface separating an old metamorphic basement from a younger sandstone cover. Oxidising, uranium-bearing fluids are reduced at this contact. These are the richest deposits in the world, as in the Athabasca basin.
Composition
Minerals: uraninite (pitchblende), coffinite; clay and graphite alteration in the basement.
