Carbonate replacementAg-Pb-Zn
- Type
- Chimney-manto carbonate replacement (Ag-Pb-Zn)
A classic carbonate replacement district with polymetallic Ag-Pb-Zn chimneys and mantos. Hydrothermal fluids of magmatic origin replaced Cretaceous limestones. Its historical production has been large since the 18th century, and it is often compared with Naica.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| −0.4 / 0.4 ‰ | acanthite and native silver (hypogene) Typical hypogene range. The deposit is of carbonate replacement type (mantos and chimneys), unlike the epithermal Fresnillo, Guanajuato and Zacatecas, but its signature is similar: a magmatic source common to all major silver mineralisation in Mexico. | Arribas et al. 2020, The Isotopic Composition of Silver in Ore Minerals |
